Some UADs/Phones support hints/presence feature. This feature identifies the status of other UADs/Phones on the network. Properly identifying UAD/Phone status results in batter handling of calls. For example, if extension is busy, caller will hear busy and not the unavailable dial sound

•Grandstream GXP2000 (Firmware >= 1.0.1.13)
•Aastra 480i

CLI:

 

Presence/Hints can be checked by command line as well. From PBXware console type '/home/servers/pbxware/sh/asterisk -rvvvvvvvvvv' and type 'show hints' to view the presence information.
